Poppyshopping.com was created in March 2009 by Kane Research Ltd. for the purpose of creating a shopping experience within the limitations of the average internet browser.
Boasting over 360 UK retail outlets in terms of brands represented poppyshopping is one of the biggest malls in the world.
A consumer shouldn't have to know the brand or even the product in order to shop online, Online Retailers should be able to benefit from passing trade.
This is the concept behind poppyshopping.com
How poppyshopping came about
Company founder Roy Robinson while trying to find a present for his daughter "Poppy Robinson" became aware that unless you know exactly what you are looking for
it is very difficult to shop online. Unable to find any facility to simply browse high street retailers he began designing the 3D shopping Mall.
Creating a 3D mall proved to be extremely challenging, a perspective street view meant that shop windows very quickly disappeared into the horizon and became unreadable.
The idea of never actually moving forward but simply choosing left or right solved the horizon problem and spawned a unique mall design based on 20 stores in an offset square configuration. The squares can be joined at the corners to form larger shopping areas and the central area can left open to form a Plaza.
